A Typical Day Managing Chronic Pain

Today is Monday, December 9th, 2019. I would say I had a relatively good day as I stayed in school the whole day and went to tennis from 6-8 pm. However, my pain did increase in school today in the morning and I think it was because I did not get a proper night of sleep. I also had a harder time focusing in class today since my headache was an 8/10 instead a 7/10, which is my baseline pain. To make sure I could stay throughout school, I just drank lots of water and made sure to take breaks during the day by focusing for 20 mins and taking a 20 second break by focusing on something different. Afterschool I went for tutoring and did not have any problems focusing there. I worked on math for an hour since I have a test on Thursday and also worked on my bio questions which are due Thursday. After tutoring, I had tennis from 6-8 pm and I was a little nervous since I haven’t played in a month after tennis season ended in early November. The clinic was very intense and I did not play as well and was tired at the end, but I knew I just had to keep practicing to get back to my level I was during season. To manage my headache while playing sports, I play at 70% of my capacity so I can pace myself and stay the full 2 hours. After tennis, I came home and ate dinner with my family, and finished my homework and went to bed around 10:30 pm. I make sure to get at least 7 hours of sleep so my headache will not be worse in the morning.
