With the holiday season upon us, I want to share some holiday self care gift ideas that I have gotten and highly recommend. These gifts can help with relaxation, help cope with chronic pain, and help with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I split the holiday gift ideas into five sections: help with technology, reading and writing, cooking, movement, and relaxation. I also attached links that will lead you to the product on amazon. Here are some of my favorite self care holiday gift ideas :)
Help With Technology
I purchased blue light glasses at the beginning of the school year because I was going to be looking at a computer screen for over 6 hours a day. One of my headache triggers is having too much bright light and screen time, and I wanted to limit the possibility of this happening. Plus, blue light glasses prevent you from digital eye strain and glare, which can be a pain trigger for many people.
Reading and Writing
Having a journal and colorful pens to write down your thoughts is a great gift for people who want to start journaling. I did it for a period of time at the beginning of quarantine and enjoyed making new outlines. I was able to write down all my thoughts, positive affirmations, and goals I want to accomplish during the day.
2. Self Help Book: Atomic Habits by James Clear
I read Atomic Habits by James Clear a few months ago and it was very easy to read and well written. It is a great book for self growth and to learn the psychology behind making new, realistic habits and being productive. This was the first time I read a self help book and now this genre is one of my favorites!
Cooking
I got a mini waffle maker as a gift a few months ago and I love making them for breakfast. Due to my dietary restrictions, I use a gluten and dairy free waffle mix and also like to add blueberries or chocolate chips. Even if you are not good at cooking, the waffle maker comes with easy-to-read directions and takes less than 10 minutes to make.
2. Milk Frother
If you are someone who likes coffee or matcha, I highly recommend getting a milk frother. Since the beginning of quarantine, I look forward to making homemade lattes in the morning and/or afternoon. I purchased a milk frother this summer and love using it when I’m in the mood to make lattes. The milk frother I purchased has different settings and can make the froth cold, warm, or hot.
Movement
If you are a person that wants to add more movement during your day, I recommend buying a yoga mat. Yoga is a great form of exercise that is low intensity and can help you relax. Plus, there are many workout videos using a yoga mat you can find online.
2. Jump Rope
If you are looking for a fun and strenuous workout that you can do at home, I recommend buying a jump rope. Jump rope is a great full body workout that can get you sweating in a short amount of time! You can also improve your coordination and build up your stamina.
Relaxation
My family got a diffuser as a present last Christmas and I highly recommend getting one especially if you have chronic headaches. For many people, a diffuser helps with improved sleep patterns, stress relief, and pain relief. Whenever I have a spike in my headache, a diffuser with aromatherapy oils sometimes helps bring my pain back to my baseline level.
